The New York DeafBlind Collaborative

The New York DeafBlind Collaborative (NYDBC) is a federally funded grant that provides FREE technical assistance (10/1/2023 – 9/30/2028): supports, information and resources to families of children with combined vision and hearing loss (and/or a qualifying “at-risk diagnosis”) as well as the professionals that serve them. We have initiatives under our grant which consist of: Identification & Referral, Family & Consumer Engagement, Qualified Personnel & Interveners, and Lateral Capacity Networks. We also disseminate information to families and professionals in a multitude of ways: our NYDBC newsletter, constant contact list serv, family list servs and googlegroups, Facebook & IG.

NYDBC is fiscally managed by the Research Foundation of the City University of New York (CUNY) and provides services throughout the entire state of New York.

NYDBC maintains a statewide child count of children and youth with combined hearing and vision loss, provides training to families and professionals and acts as a resource on deafblindness.

NYDBC provides support to schools, agencies, professionals and families on behalf of children and young adults with both hearing and vision loss between the ages of 0-22.
Anyone in New York State can access NYDBC as a resource on deafblindness.
All services are free and do not conflict with services listed on the Individualized Education Program that is supported through the school district.

NYDBC is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs (#H326T230034), under the direction of Eric Caruso, OSEP Project Officer.
