The Chicago Lighthouse

The Chicago Lighthouse is a non-profit organization whose mission is to open doors to opportunities, jobs, and independence for people who are blind, visually impaired, disabled, and Veterans. Our diverse array of 40 interconnected programs and services assist more than 50,000 individuals annually and address their holistic needs. From optimizing remaining vision, meeting developmental and educational milestones, and securing employment, our programs are designed to help our clients thrive and live with independence.

Our programs cover a variety of services, grouped among four “pillars” of service: Comprehensive Low Vision Care, Education, Employment Services and Social Business Enterprises, and Independent Living and Advocacy. Through our integrated network of programs, we help clients overcome barriers so that they can lead healthy lives and fully participate in the community. Our programs contain multiple points of entry so that we can help clients at any point along their journeys, and we assist everyone who needs our help regardless of ability to pay. Regardless of how or when we encounter our clients, every one of our programs is designed to enable people with disabilities to thrive on their own terms.
