Seeking Shalom
Do you sometimes gets anxious about what is going on in your life or about things that you have to do? Do you find yourself sad or unmotivated? Do you find that you do things “just to make sure” so much that this is getting in the way of actually doing things? Do you find relating to others difficult? Do you not know how to tell people that you would still like to be treated as a human being even though there is something wrong with how you see? Has your vision loss affected your significant relationships? All of these are normal. You are not alone. However, sometimes working on these alone is a hard (or even impossible) way to make a difference – that is where working with one of us can be helpful.
Seeking Shalom is still run by its founder, the Rev. Christopher L. Smith, LCAC, LMHC, LMFT, who is himself blind as the result of a neurological condition. The practice intentionally includes emerging clinicians under supervision of veteran clinicians in order to bring help to traditionally underserved communities. As we work with our clients, we feel privileged to walk with them on their journey to wholeness and peace. One of the things that is distinctive in how Seeking Shalom operates is that we intentionally incorporate the clients’ faith (which can be from aspect of their religion, more formally adopted spirituality or even informal ideas they may not have thought of as spiritual) into the therapeutic process.
