En-Vision America has developed ScripTalk talking labels, a solution for audible pharmacy labeling benefiting the blind and low vision community. I was designed to help people who have difficulty or can't read their medication labels. ScripTalk labels are attached to a prescription bottle or package and programmed with all of the printed label information. We can apply it to any packaging that we use to help blind and low vision patients manage their medication at home including bottles and disposable pill organizers. The patient places the medication container on a prescription reader unit and hears the label read aloud with a press of a button. The unit resembles a clock radio. A ScripTalk app can be substituted as a prescription reader if the patient uses a smartphone with RFID capability. It works on both AOS / iPhones and the Android platform.
The patient will hear the entire label read aloud including:
- Drug Name, Dosage, & Instructions
- Warnings & Contraindications
- Pharmacy Information
- Doctor Name
- Prescription Number & Date
The Scrip-Talk Station Prescription Reader is the only audible prescription reading device to meet all federal requirements listed under the Federal Drug and Cosmetic Act (FDCA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
As we mentioned, Accessible Pharmacy Services for the Blind fully supports the ScripTalk technology. Please feel free to call us and we can discuss if ScripTalk is a good fit for you and your needs. It is 100% FREE and can be used for prescription medication, OTC medication, vitamins and supplements. We can also apply the ScripTalk labels to guide dog and pet medication.
