National Federation of the Blind of Virginia, Silver BELLS Program

The National Federation of the Blind of Virginia (NFBV) is a nonprofit organization made up of blind people of all ages, their families and friends. Our members and leaders provide advocacy and support to blind and low vision Virginians across the commonwealth. The Silver BELLS Program is in it’s fourth year of empowering seniors, age 55 and older, who are losing their eyesight or are blind, to continue living independent, productive, and fulfilling lives. Silver BELLS is designed to teach the core skills applicable to a variety of everyday tasks, with adaptations for low vision or blind people. Working in the kitchen, organizing your home, and keeping up with technology are just a few examples of things you can do confidently. Our goal is to show seniors who are low vision or blind, how to get and keep control of their lives.
