Georgia Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled
Georgia Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled (GLS) is a special library focused on helping people achieve their educational, employment, and personal independence goals. GLS is uniquely focused on connecting eligible individuals with library services and programs adapted to their needs. Materials and service are for all ages and interests.
GLS offers a large free collection of library materials in accessible formats from the free national library program administered by the Library of Congress and the National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled (NLS).
Reading materials and services for personal enrichment, education, and entertainment — as well as a talking book machine — are sent to borrowers and returned by postage-free mail or available for direct download via Braille and Audio Reading Download (BARD). Library users can search the online GLS catalog for braille, recorded books, and descriptive videos and place their requests. Reader advisors are available to help by phone or in person at our public library located in Atlanta.
GLS isn’t just for those who are blind. Individuals also are eligible if they are low vision, temporarily or permanently physically unable to hold a book and turn the page, or have reading disabilities such as dyslexia.
GLS offers books, magazines, music, and more in accessible formats, as well as personalized help from reader advisors and exciting, educational and uplifting activities throughout the year.
