Accessible Pharmacy Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP)

The Diabetes Prevention Program is a year-long lifestyle change virtual program, fully covered by insurance, for people at risk of developing type 2 diabetes. The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has proven success! Participants lowered their risk of developing type 2 diabetes by 58%. Participants ages 60+ lowered their risk of developing type 2 diabetes by 71%.

Our Diabetes Prevention Program is taught by two Diabetes Lifestyle Coaches who are blind, and we also have a class taught in American Sign Language (ASL).

Who Can Join? If you are 18+ and identify with any of the following:

  • Being overweight
  • Age 45+
  • Having a parent or sibling with type 2 diabetes
  • Being physically active less than 3 times per week
  • History of giving birth to a baby that weighed more than 9 pounds
  • History of having diabetes while pregnant (gestational diabetes)
  • African American, Hispanic/Latino American, Pacific Islander, or Asian American

Goals:

  1. Lose weight through healthy eating
  2. Increase physical activity
  3. Learn to identify and address barriers to healthy eating and physical activity
