mohamed deumah

Mohamed Deumah, Doctor of Pharmacy Student, Binghamton University

My college journey began at Binghamton University, where I pursued a bachelor's of science in biochemistry. This experience led me to explore the world of pharmacy and so, I entered a 3+4 program for Binghamton University's School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. I started the first year of my Doctor of Pharmacy this fall and am excited about the challenge ahead! Although a career in pharmacy leaves me with an abundance of excellent career paths, I aspire to enter as a pharmacist working in the pharmaceutical industry!

beeshernah ceus

Beeshernah Ceus, Nursing and Psychology Student, Stony Brook University

My name is Beeshernah Ceus. I'm 22 years old and I am visually impaired. I’m very passionate and dedicated about everything I do. I currently attend Stony Brook University where I am pursuing dual degrees in nursing and psychology. I’ve been interested in healthcare since middle school because my school had a career day where many different professionals shared their passion for their career. The amazing conversations I had with healthcare professionals sparked my interest in the field. I wasn’t sure exactly what I wanted to do and thought my disability would limit me to opportunities in the healthcare field. Around this time my sister who also has the same eye condition as me shared that she was accepted to nursing school. This was a pivotal moment in my story because she proved to me that I could pursue a career that many thought was impossible. From there I researched many different career paths, spoke to professionals, and decided to pursue a career in nursing. Aside from nursing I also have an interest in psychology that began with a course I took in high school for college credit. Psychology was my first major before nursing school. Thanks to Stony Brook’s dual enrollment, I am able to pursue both of my career passions.

After graduating nursing school I will work as a registered home health or psychiatric nurse. In the future I plan to get my masters in nursing education. After a few years of experience I want to return back home to Haiti and open a health clinic to serve my community and others in need. I would also like to start a nonprofit organization that provides resources to children who are blind or visually impaired around the world. I am excited for the future that I have envisioned for myself.

Thank you to Accessible Pharmacy for this amazing award!
